At the IOT SWC in Barcelona, IOTech announced a new product called Edge XRT XRT is complementary to EdgeX Foundry in that it provides a low latency (< 100 microsecond), high frequency processing device connector for embedded industrial IoT applications. Written in C, it allows EdgeX to extend its reach deeper into highly constrained devices and legacy environments. XRT was developed to support real-time controllers where low latency and determinism are key requirements. In early 2020, IOTech intends to release a standalone version XRT that will allow it to be used in all sorts of real-time applications.
