Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are tradable commodities that represent proof that 1  MWh of electricity was generated from an eligible renewable energy resource and was fed into the shared system of power lines which transport energy. A green energy provider (such as a wind farm) is credited with one REC for every 1,000 kWh or 1 MWh of electricity it produces. The intent is to incentivize carbon-neutral renewable energy by providing a production subsidy to electricity generated from renewable sources. These certificates can be sold and traded or bartered

REConnect Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd,founded in 2010, started with an aim to help companies buy and sell green energy credits. The company has launched India's first marketplace (www.clickpower.in) to transact renewable energy based bilateral contracts. It also provides investment decisions support, regulatory guidance and strategy consulting to RE investors and very large industrial consumers.
