Comcast machineQ Brings IoT to Golf Courses, Mines, and Wines

Comcast’s machineQ IoT business unit named several new customers of the platform. These customers include FairwayIQ, H2O Degree, Seco Sys, Steam IQ, and Vinduino. And its new customers span a number of industries and use cases for machineQ. This follows an announcement made by the unit in March that also named new customers.

MachineQ is an enterprise cloud-based IoT platform that uses low-power WAN (LPWAN) technology and is deployed using LoRaWAN. It launched in 2016 to serve IoT applications such as utility metering, environmental monitoring, and asset tracking. With the addition of these new customers it will now also be used for water metering, facilities management, and agriculture.

Fairway IQ will use it on golf courses to deliver data about the scheduling of employees and the location of equipment and personnel so that golf courses can efficiently allocate time and resources.

Vinduino is focused on wine making and agriculture and will deploy the machineQ platform to allow growers to remotely manage and operate irrigation systems and manage its growing operation.

H2O Degree will monitor and manage sub-metering products for multi-family complexes and facilities, providing analytics on energy, billing, and water usage. Seco Sys will use it in a similar fashion, measuring water quality and metrics across mining operations and campuses. SteamIQ will use the LoRaWAN network to transmit data on machines (e.g. radiators, water heaters, etc.) in deep and underground locations to maintain steam energy in modern businesses.
