Started in 2016 by a group of developers in Amsterdam who set up the worlds first free #opensource LoRaWAN cloud server, by the end of 2018 Australia had just under 300 #LoRaWAN gateways deployed. Six months on we have more than 380 with the network growth turbo charged by more than 40 local councils investing in free-to-access coverage for their own #IoT projects, such as #smartlighting, #peoplecounting, #watermanagement, #floodrisk management #smartparking and dozens of other applications, and also for the benefit of local businesses, farmers, students and the general community. Universities have also been key players in establishing a robust network with more than a dozen hosting gateways on very tall buildings. With each gateway often achieving over 10km in range we are now moving towards near ubiquitous coverage in many areas, just like Amsterdam which was completely covered with LoRaWAN coverage in 2016. Meshed IoT have supplied and manage about 40% of the current footprint.
