HID Global has acquired enterprise data and IoT management provider HydrantID complement its IdenTrust digital certification authority business
HydrantID specializes in public key infrastructure (PKI), according to the announcement, and has issued more than 3 million PKI credentials and secured over 125,000 domains with its PKI-as-a-service solutions.
The technology is offered to enterprise, government, financial, and other organizations focussed on data security, securing IoT systems using IP-based protocols requiring PKI-based authentication to secure data and networked machine identities.
The companies say PKI-based authentication can help reduce the risks of bot attacks and compliance issues amid changing regulations.
“We are evolving HID’s Identity and Access Management business to provide one-stop solutions for PKI services across the enterprise,” states HID Global President and CEO Stefan Widing.
“With the acquisition of HydrantID, we are now able to offer enterprise customers a broader range of options, plus the flexibility and scalability of PKI-as-a-service to improve information security.”
HydrantID utilizes hybrid-cloud trust architecture from its state-of-the-art data center and scalable cloud platform, according to the announcement, to help enterprises reduce operating complexities and extend the use of certificate-based authentication and encryption across the organization.
The company says a key benefit is the automation of certificate lifecycle events and distribution with industry-standard protocols and “out of the box” integration with common enterprise software and platforms.
The newly acquired company will be integrated with HID IdenTrust, a division of HID Identity and Access Management.
HID Global has been on something of an acquisition spree, reaching an agreement to add De La Rue’s Citizen Identity business in June.
