Terbine announced today a version of its cloud-based IoT Data Exchange and Marketplace that enables “data trading alliances” within and between industries. The offering makes it possible for supplier-buyer groups, trade associations, government agencies and research institutions to have their own white-labeled or “branded” data exchanges.

“Since launching the Terbine system in August 2018, we’ve been approached by multinational corporations, industry trade groups and public agencies wanting to have their own exchanges,” said David Knight, Terbine Founder and CEO. “We’ve answered their needs by creating a version of the system that has all of the functionality of the Terbine Exchange with their nameplate, and giving them control over who participates, what they can access and when it gets charged for. It’s a powerful tool for the growing data-based ecosystems that are building around autonomous vehicles, smart cities, renewable energy, precision agriculture and many other technology-driven sectors.”

The first group to take advantage of the new offering is the Intelligent Transportation Society of America. The association has over 300 member-organizations ranging from major automakers to federal, state and municipal highway authorities. The ITSA Data Exchange, as it is called, offers a frictionless environment for participants to share, and in some cases monetize, their IoT data feeds with the goal of improving road safety and transportation efficiency.
